CTV Morning Live

In case you missed it, here's my recent appearance on CTV Morning Live with Rosey Ugo Edeh.

The Story

On June 20th, I was running late for work and decided not to risk running a yellow light at Clarence and Dalhousie, something I usually would have done. Given my history as a barfly in my 20s and my role as a former Communications and Events Coordinator for the ByWard Market, I often bump into familiar faces when walking around the area. As I watched the light turn red, I thought, "I wonder if this extra 60 seconds will lead to an interesting encounter."

A few minutes later, while walking up William Street, I spotted Stefane Keys approaching. Recently, I've been adopting a new strategy I call the "three-second rule":

When deciding whether to introduce yourself or say hello to someone in a social setting, count to three and do it without overthinking.

Seeing Stefane about to cross my path, I greeted him with, "Good morning, Mr. Keys!"

Stefane, with the charisma and elegance typical of a TV personality, returned my greeting. I mentioned that I had recently won the Ottawa Natural Classic, something that might interest him since he often posts fitness-related content. He recognized the significance and mentioned that CTV Morning Live frequently features fitness segments. We exchanged numbers, planning to follow up later.

The opportunity to appear on TV to share my story and promote my coaching services was exciting. A couple of weeks later, Stefane connected me with a producer, and we booked the show.

On Set

I was confirmed for the program on Wednesday for a Friday morning appearance. In preparation, I quickly sourced some weights for the workout demonstration. Additionally, I wanted to document the experience, and Jesse from the Capital Collective agreed to join me in the studio to capture content.

During the segment with Rosey, a three-time Olympic sprinter and overall fantastic person, we discussed my bodybuilding journey. I then demonstrated three shoulder exercises for developing well-rounded delts.

A big thanks to Stefane, Rosey, the team at CTV, and Jesse from the Capital Collective for making this experience possible.

Note: While working at Bluesfest selling drinks, a patron asked me if I was the guy he saw on TV.
