2 Weeks Out: A Stoic Reflection
With everything progressing so well over the past couple of months, I have to admit that I've been battling a creeping anxiety. It's not quite doubt, but more of a cautious awareness that things could go wrong.
Being in the bodybuilding prep mindset has fascinating effects on other aspects of your life. The relentless dedication to nutrition and training plans can lead to an obsession with getting everything done immediately. While this has its benefits, it's also crucial to remember to take a step back and chill. Sometimes, you gotta wait for your house to get messy before you clean it...
Lost in thought this morning, I realized that as humans, it can be easier to picture what could go wrong rather than what could go right. The great opportunities and successes in life can be surprising and unimaginable, often blindsiding us. While the same is true for life's negatives, it's important to remind yourself that if you focus on completing the task at hand with care, effort, and virtue, whatever comes next is deserved.
Applying judgment of whether something is good or bad is a choice. If you're proud of your individual actions, the outcome should bode well for you too. It's essential to maintain this perspective and trust the process, knowing that the hard work, dedication, and work ethic you develop along the way is the reward in itself. Any external phenomena such as recognition, praise, or reward are a "cherry on top".
It's not what happens to you, it's what you choose to do with what happens to you.
I’m currently two weeks out from the 2024 Toronto Natural Pro Qualifier. I’m dead set on getting professional-level conditioning.
